Making sound effects such as lasers and risers

I saw the tutorial on how to make lasers and other sound effects at http://www.djtechtools.com/2013/08/1...#disqus_thread and was wondering what hardware and other software should I purchase in order to make my life easier when doing so in ableton live. I see Zach is using different pieces of equipment so I want to know what is something I should get. I mix cheerleading music for a living and we are constantly using the same BUILDS, LASERS, WHIPS, and CRACKS and would like to start creating some new ones of my own. Please help! Thanks!

That new synth plugin "The Riser" would probably suit you down to the ground.
