That would have far more reaching implications than just DJ'ing :)

IMO- DJ'ing will not progress till the community, as a whole, lets it grow... That means for any and everyone who uses, or is a DJ, needs stop seeing boundaries, and start seeing opportunities, to learn something and teach anything.
For a community that is flooded with - crap DJ's, crap music, crap gear, and guys who have crap attitude and egos, who argue (more then share) of what they "know"- DJ'ing is a self-secluded, redundant laden-orgy, of an egotistical Ménage à trois; split between musical preference, gear preference, and masochism.
DJ's are so reluctant to look outside of their own box, that the producer has taken their glory. DJ'ing on a grander stage is now being performed by producers/DJ's. The DJ (that is not a producer) has much less of a choice while "playing" other peoples music. I believe it's true that "The industry is changing, and all the old timers will be left behind"... but that pertains to the standard that you have for yourself as a DJ and NOT the hardware platform you choose to play on. The change that needs to be debated about, is the standard of the DJ, not the equipment.

The paradigms that lie between the music, community, and lifestyle, that surround "EDM" is so coincidental (maybe even predictable), that it is almost comical. If there is any time that I've seen, "life imitating art", its been in "EDM" (at least here in the states).
TL;DR - IMO (from the outside looking in), DJ'ing is never going to evolve any further then what your own taste is. Innocence is bliss. DJ'ing is as dead as you see it.
Sincerely,
Bedroom DJ, with RGAS and a addiction to music and this forum
I beg to differ. You can set up a scanner which measures the amount of movement on the dancefloor linked to the song playing. The song playing can be analyzed and different songs that fit the criteria could be selected. Once the computer notices the movement is steadily declining or increasing, it could differ the pace of the music.
Will take a pretty sick algorithm, but it if someone were to invest some bucks it would def be possible ;)
It's a body to worship.
The future of DJ'ing to YOU ends when you get older and no longer have an interest in going to clubs. It happens.
