Change the LEDs on my VCI-400?

Hey all,

I checked out this post regarding changing the LEDs of a Vestax controller:

The posting is quite old so I wanted to know if anyone might have a clue if this is applicable to my new VCI-400. I don't know anything about voltage and resistors and this and that. All I know is how to replace things with a soldering iron when I have the correct parts. I'm anxious to try this out but I'd like to know if I'm going to fry my controller by getting the same parts as mentioned in the link above.
