iTunes not opening in Traktor

Hi All

In need of some assistance please.

I've been using a Numark Omni Controller and the Traktor Le software I received with it for about a year now. I have been creating playlists in iTunes and then opening those in Traktor to play from. About 2 months ago, when I opened Traktor and scrolled down to iTunes and clicked on iTunes as I normally do, I got an error message in the little message box at the bottom of Traktor saying: "Warning: Unknown exception during iTunes import". And ever since I've been unable to open iTunes in Traktor. I can however still import tracks from my iTunes music folder but not the playlists.

Anyone experience this or know how I can fix this?

Update Traktor, maybe an iTunes update broke the import

Thanks for the response. Did an update on Traktor LE and iTunes still not opening.

Mac or Win ?

If on Mac most likely the Icon in the Dock did not update --> delete traktor-dock-icon and pull it back in from the programms folder.

What happended 2 month ago ? maybe a iTunes update ?

Check the iTunes collection path in the traktor preferences.

It's against the forum rules because they tend to distract people from the flow of information.

Don´t get me wrong, i don´t want to start an argument here but i dont see any violation of the forum rules here.

if it is so distracting maybe it should be disabled, simple as that.

i assume the same goes for the mixcloud wrapper ?

Disabling it has been discussed.

Yes, players are fine in a regular post, it's just in signatures that they're frowned on.

I searched google with this error message and landed on a NI forum where this issue was being discussed. Really crazy solution but it worked for me. One of the guys said that he removed all the little Japanese/ Chinese and little square signs found at the end of an artist's name in iTunes and the problem will be sorted.

I did that now and hey presto! My iTunes is opening up in Traktor again.

One of the guys said that apparently Traktor doesn't recognize the funny characters when it tries to open iTunes.

How did you find all the songs that had the offending characters?

When downloading a track, a very small few of them have a funny character after the artist's name. When pulling it into iTunes, you'll see it clearly. It's often a little square or a Japanese/Chinese symbol.

All I did was edit the track artist and deleted the symbol.

Sometimes people have problems with those being in fields that aren't visible. I thought maybe you had found an easy way to find those. Guess you got lucky in that they were all in the visible field.

Yes, I think I was just lucky, there weren't many. Some of those tracks I edited via right clicking on the track, selecting "info" and then selecting "info" again. You see more fields this way. I'm glad that I know this know to prevent headaches in the future.

I have had the exact same problem with trying to access itunes library. I watch a video from 'Dubspot' on here about organising you're tunes and I thought it was a great way of doing it so I spent all day yesterday creating folders and smart playlists. Finally tried to test it all out in Traktor and I get that message "Warning: Unknown exception during iTunes import" :mad::mad::mad:
Seriously, I have moved over from M-Audio's Torq/Xponent to Traktor and the trouble I am have organising my track through this software has made me wish I hadn't :(

As far as i know your gadget may have developed a malfunction. I suggest you consult the maker so that the fault can be rectified.

I have those, so it's probably that that is effecting my ability to load my itunes library. Thanks for solving that! :):):)

nvm, im an idiot and figured it out. --- i think...


Edit: -- so i load the itunesmusiclibrary.xml file from users/MYNAME/music/itunes to the website, it processes and sends something but then reloads the page with the blank load form for the .xml file.

i try to then open traktor and load itunes through there, yet it still has the unknown error during import...

can anyone shed some light on this?

I take it all back! I tried the deleting of the symbols from the ID3 tags and that still didn't work. Tried reloading my Traktor software and that didn't work either. I am begining to lose interest with the Traktor software!!! Surely there is a way to fix this problem.:(:(:(:(
