i think its because of the outputs
but even then it looks ridiculous
It converts rca to coax or optical out. i guess so you can plug into a tv or optical in on a decent stereo.
Holy crap I need one of those. My TV has HDMI, digital and optical audio out, but no RCA. SWEEEETTTT!!!

The link you listed actually converts an RCA's analog signal into a digital SPDIF signal or digital Optical signal, but not 3.5mm (mini headphone jack size). This can be somewhat expensive considering that it actually converts audio from analog to digital within the device.
RCA (analog) to 3.5mm (analog) would be much cheaper.
Wait... Does this mean that I can start using my MiniDisc again? :O
