i consider myself a decently technical dj, and being only at 19 mins this guy is doing things with cdjs that i'll probably never be able to pull with controllers, great mix!!

Really amazing set. Just blew my mind on the ideas and techniques this guy has in his bag.

    Super Duper learning tool.

This format of video presentation should become more widely accepted. Its like "Trainspotter Live" or something.

Exactly my thoughts. Really great learning tool. You should watch his old performance on DJ Sounds which was done a year ago. Also pretty useful.

Am I the only one who was a tad disappointed with his set? Don't get me wrong... I voted him as my #1 on DjMag and I usually love laidback luke's sets. IMO, his 2010 set on DjSounds was really awesome. His skills are undoubtedly quite good (so damn far of my noobish reach) but sometimes he just messes so much around that some transitions and what not become very sloppy and sometimes even mood killing (from a listener's/dancing point of view [exclude alcohol influence lol]). For instance, his "signature" cuts and scratches can sometimes get a little bit annoying in my opinion.

From another point of view, I do like the fact that he feels so relaxed as to have fun messing around that much even if some won't like it. That clearly shows he's having a LOT of fun and enjoying what he's doing.

does anyone notice how the DJ's always have the channel and master gains maxed in the red? Are the pio mixers made to do that without distorting?

I would have to agree with you if I was looking to critique the mix. But funnily enough it makes me even more excited to go home and and jam out some beats and do whatever feels fun without being to worried about perfection
