If you don't mind an all in on scenario get a XDJ-RX2, same price as a pair of XDJ-700 yet you get more features and a proper 2ch mixer baked in.

I think the OP was trying to get away from waveforms to something more bare bones..

Yep but at the same time you don't really need the waveforms to mix. I only pay attention to the full waveform for position, key and BPM info has been a thing DJs knew about if they took the time for prep work where they would write the info on the CDs so they would know what they are working with.

Personally I been toying with the idea of picking up a couple CDJ350s to add to my setup to further my understanding on different setups. (Currently I have the RX2)

Maybe Denon DN-HS 5500 with internal hard drive? 2 decks in one, spinning platter, nice feeling.

So, the proto sc 5000 prime missing all of the really cool features.

Probably awesome for the price, but are they still made?

Just be patient. Native Instruments is updating the remix decks soon.

Sounds like a joke to me. It's one of the least-used features (unless I'm horribly mistaken), which seems to be where NI'd development (such as it is) has been focused lately.

ahh ok... I know they get some flak but I really like like the remix decks, I realise they don't have a use in all situations and for all genres but when they are suitable they're really powerful

When I used to sit down and try producing a track 9 times out of 10 I just ended up with some really good sounding loops. So the remix decks have been a great use for the years worth of loops I have saved
