Default DJ name? Or just your own name?

    Hey guys,

I'm having real trouble coming up with a DJ name, and i've been wondering...how important is it to have a name that isn't your real name? As a personal preference I dislike DJ names that start with the word "DJ". I much prefer single word names like Deadmau5 or Tiesto and so on...

So theres those big names..then there are those who just use their actual name like David Guetta, Paul Oakenfold....hell Ean Golden!

Being Chinese, I don't have a name that stands out (seeing as we don't have that great a variety of last names). It's Anson Cheung. So I'm thinking a stage name would be more memorable...

    so

how important is it to have a stage name, do you think?

    What's in a name?

That's your job to make it memorable with a good product. You could call yourself something stupid like space monkey but it doesn't matter if you rock peoples' asses off. Anson Cheung is not a bad name to me. :/

Personally, I think you should have a moniker, if anything, to keep your real name private. In this day and age there is SO much active information, it's easier to just use a fake name, which almost every single popular musician does, and I wouldn't be surprised is most DJs do too.

I mean, it can be a real name, just not YOUR real name. It also can be simpler for starting businesses, keeping paperwork separate, etc. etc. etc.. I'd say make some sort of moniker, but it doesn't necessarily have to be DJ Smokes and Bones or whatever.
    It's the FAQ. Read it.
