    Default Little Help Please?

    Hi Guys and Girls.

I have recently decided to switch over to the digital world. I have been djing in Australia for 6 years now, and i have finally decided to make the switch. Not many people in Aus are using laptops for djing performances. So i would like to jump the gun and make the switch before it becomes big here. I just need some advice of equipment and set-up. I have done some research and discovered this website through a video on Youtube. After having a read through some posts, i realised that you guys were definately the ones to get some advice from.

    1) I am having a new 'music only' laptop built right now. Quad Processor, 4gb Ram etc etc.

    2) I have decided to run Traktor Pro. I am purchasing it this weekend.

    3) I am still tossing up between a few external controllers. Any reccomendations? Cheap, Middle Range & Top of the line........

    4) I need advice on Soundcards. I'm not sure what kind i need to run. Any reccomendations? Cheap, Middle Range & Top of the line........

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

I would recommend a mac if in your price range and when you say "digital" do you want to use MIDI controllers or cdjs/turntables with timecode?

Well I'm not much of a sound card person...I personally use the Audio 8 but that's because I use time code but i would recommend looking through the articles (on home tab) I'm 99.9% sure there's many many articles about sound cards... (may even look for posts in the forum but the articles are better) In the articles they put lots of info varying from price, sound quality, and size (portability)

do you have anhy local shops that hav this stuff... maybe you can try out a few pieces to see if there is a certain style you like... buttons, faders, jog wheels.... Like something with jog wheels make work awesome for some, but for me they serve no purpose. May help us narrow down your choices a little if we know what may suit you the best. I think you will find a great deal of knowledge here with whatever route you chose!
