Are you on a 64 bit machine?
What happens when you select the 5th in the list? I don't think it's likely that it's a latency issue if traktor shuts down like that.
Some random tips: have you updated to last version of traktor? Have you tried different usb port? If applicable: does it work on another pc?
Useful to try: use the soundcard for something like itunes or wmp to see if it works with that.

it's the 32bit OS.
not getting any sound to come out through the sound card. i went to control panel -> sound and enabled it so that sound should go through (there is a little green check next to it.) and it shows the green bars moving when there is sound, just nothing is coming out. the volume for everything is turned up.
when i select the fifth from the list nothing happens. (No sound or anything)
everything is updated.

If the djio has 2 stereo outputs, two djio icons should, appear in the Windows sound output manager - try selecting the other one see what happens.
Maybe rebooting works? Otherwise try uninstalling and then reinstalling the (latest) drivers. I can't really think of any other general tips.
Is there a message or error code when traktor quits?
