I work for a jewellery company, I think it sucks, women think it's awesome.

My goal is just to not have to work a generic job for the rest of my life.

I'm a Mental Health nurse and work part time, DJing the remainder of the time. Having said that I've been considering hanging up the headphones and focusing on the sensible career for some months now. Feeling a bit old and the hearing isn't what it used to be.

    Cool Rudi-Js daytime job

I have a background in software engineering (Germany: “Dipl. Informatiker” probably comparable to Master of information technology, graduate computer scientist) and lived in Berlin, when Techno became big there (however until that time I was totally into independent music – The John Peel kind of stuff). I used to work in C/Assembler, operating system, robotics, a lot of reverse engineering and created embedded systems with very limited amount of registers and very limited memory (that’s probably why I still enjoy mapping with just 8 modifiers capable to take on 8 values).
In 91, I joined Olympus in Hamburg as a software consultant, later become product manager and head of medical product management in Germany. Since 2010 I work in the international branch. My latest large project there was participating in the launch of our medical video endoscopy series where I had the chance to design the global marketing campaign with our agency. See the “making of” video attached here to get an idea if you are interested:

Around 2002 I began digital DJing using MixMeister because I always felt I wanted to do it. I purchased controllers (my beloved BCR 2000), switched over to Traktor, got my own PA and started to DJ occasionally on birthdays, weddings. In 2012 however I realized if I ever want to make real progress and in the way I envision (which is not playing 70ies to 90ies top 40) I definitely have to devote more time to it. Besides that I should also mention that I am married and have two almost grown up kids…

So I asked my bosses if they would accept changing my contract from 40 to 32 hours – and luckily they accepted. So since 2013 I stay at home on Fridays where I can concentrate on my DJ projects in a much better way.

    Really enjoy my living now.
