Default Hoping to start producing/mixing soon....and HELLO!

    Hello all,

was referred by fellow dj tomato slice and love this place.

So I like music, mainly house, electro, dubstep and everything in between.

Mixed at a few parties with my fiends speakers and a trial of virtual dj and have been to way too many dance parties during the school year, even go to see hot pink delorean and meet eli smith. I know pretty much the ions and outs of mixing (beat matching, looping etc.) and and hoping to learn the rest with MUCH interest (i.e. effects, previewing)

Anyhoo, im planning on investing in some production/mixing gear over the summer. To fund this, I im planning on selling all my guitar stuff since I have "transitioned" from guitar to electronic music, still listen to progressive metal though.

I am looking into maybe getting a new lappy with a good processor and at least 2 gigs.

Also planning to get ableton and mix with it (yeah, itll be harder to mix than with traktor, but i tihnk ill be fine with practice)

I also need a pair of monitor speakers.

as well as a midi keyboard to produce

any thoughts on the BEST VALUE in each of these categories?

    thanks and hello again!

Who says that you cant play guitar and do electronic music ?

Theres alot of EDM out there that has guitars in it.

Just saying, dont do something you might regret

My DJ gear vs My Guitar Rig.

Thats like asking me to choose which testicle to have amputated.

    Sorry not very helpful.

I would go ahead and keep your guitar and just wait a bit longer to get your dj equipment. I would start off with numark stealth control and an audio 2 dj or an audio 1 kontrol or a omni-control or total-control. These numark controllers are cheap and control somewhat similar to a vci for half the price.

After that I would get something like a midi-fighter, Akai pad controller, or oxygen 8.
