Default Advice Needed - Recording In Traktor During a Gig

Hi guys hope you're all well

Could someone please give me some advice - I'm using Traktor Scratch Pro and a Xone 4d and I'm recording back into Traktor successfully at home with my Macbook Pro (spec below).

Can I trust TP to record for prolonged periods of time in this way in a live gig environment? I'm mixing using tunes accessed via firewire from a Lacie Rugged and writing back to the internal 7200rpm hardrive - has anyone tested Traktor's recording over a period of time (I want to record the whole event so 6 hours or so)?

If that isn't the best idea - what other options would people recommend - I'm assuming running another laptop with audacity etc (but if possible would prefer the TP recording facility).

All feedback gratefully received - cheers in advance

PS - Ean - still loving your site mate - a big big thanks to you and the DJTT team from wintery NZ :-)

shouldn't be a problem. Traktor lets you set when the files get splited and starts recording into fresh new one - its easy then to combine them in audacity. So, if recording single 750 split file isn't a problem, 6 hour set is ok then, see?

I would ask you to do stability benchmark, but you did that already at home with one set, so for all i know you are ready to go.

and btw, 6 hour set, woooot ?

cheers for the advice - yes, I reckon it should be fine too. Will report back here.

and this time I won't be doing the full 6 hours (I did last time!!) - I've got a guest DJ coming in this time round (who visits these boards - Maestro B) which should be v cool.

for any of us in the Christchurch, NZ area tomorrow night - we'll be at graffiti white, Sol Square - free party, great music (all the flavours of the finest in house and techno) - what more could you ask for :-)

    cheers

just closing the loop on this request - many thanks for the advice - recorded the entire evening (5 hours) and no problems at all with the performance sound or the recording.

and Jester - always room for like-minded souls in ChCh :-)
