Default DDM4000 + Traktor Pro + Macbook speakers = problem

    Hi,

Got my DDM4000 working with cue and everything. I have one problem though.

How would I go about routing the audio out from the mixer back into the soundcard to be played through the mac internal speakers or a soundsystem designed for PCs ?

Thanks ! I have created an aggregate device including two sound cards + the internal soundcard on the macbook. Soundcards are Behringer UCA200 (2in 2out) and a M-audio Fasttrack Pro (4in/4out).

I assume you are using the external mixer setup which means most likely that all of the outs on the fasttrack is being used up and all of the cueing is done on the ddm4000. In that case, you can take anywhere from the digital out, RCA outs A or B, or even the master XLR outs from the dmm4000 and put them back into the sound card.

The problem here is how to route the audio. There are two choices, one of which I know works. The other I'm just speculating but should work out with the logic.

1st option: You can use another program in your computer, such as ableton live, and route an audio channel's input to the input being used on your external soundcard. The audio will then play out your computer speakers. This I know works for sure but adds a terrible latency to the audio forcing you to be aware of your music SOLELY THROUGH YOUR HEADPHONES ON THE DDM4000. [Do not under any circumstances try to beatmatch or play with effects by listening to what is being put out through the computer.]

The 2nd option, which I've just came up with but I think should work is to take a deck in traktor you are not using, perhaps deck D, and on your main screen right underneath the letter "D" there should be an arrow. Click that and select "Audio Through."
Now inPreferences: route its input channel as the one you are using on your fasttrack.
Then under output routing, use your computer's soundcard outs.
This will show Deck A as out 1/2 (Fasttrack), Deck B out 3/4 (Fasttrack), Deck D in 1/2 (Fasttrack), Deck D out 1/2 (Computer)

If you are using Traktor's internal mixer however, you will definitely have to use the first setup, because will have to use your "Master Out." And if you put an "Audio Through" to Traktor, Traktor will be playing its music, but at the same time picking up the music you're playing, and then playing THAT, creating an endless cycle of madness I wouldn't dare try to setup.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it works.
