Default advice to new djs with equipment!

get all of your serial numbers and take decent pictures of your stuff! my friends just had all of their stuff stolen--2 laptops, 2 tech 12's, djm800. the serial number could be used to track things if they are pawned or things like that.

    just a tip! =D

I just keep one of these in my trunk:

He's a little high maintenance, but worth every penny.

Montreal is famous for computer theft in cars. The IT department at work gives out a form with every laptop that explains how to travel with a laptop. Basically if it is on or even has the battery in it, thieves have small scanners that can detect it. They have the scanner in a bag and walk around shopping mall parking lots. When it beeps, they pop your trunk and bye-bye whatever they find.

We are told to take the lappy with us or remove the battery!

I wonder if it's a wifi scanner of sorts...

This would be covered by the home insurance policy (or tenants for the renters). This happened to me, and I didn't even have to supply receipts... I did however supply whatever i could i.e. instruction manuals, boxes, etc.. as proof.

They broke into my house about 6 or 7 years ago and cleaned my room out.

    They knew what they wanted.

    2 x CDJ100's
    Mixer
    Headphones and CD's
    Sansui EQ

    I was shattered.....

Then i learned from it and all the houses I have stayed in since are Fort fucking Knox.

Then....I got my dog. That was the ONLY way i found I could relax about my gear at my house.

Pity my boooi has passed on....
