Default Is it time to move over to SSD hard disks yet?

They seem to be coming down in price:~

and looks like quite a good option as the system drive in your laptop/macbook for gigging DJ's (faster[ish] performance, longer battery life and more durability).

    Thoughts?

was going to get one (16gb 120MB/s express 34 card) to put in my laptop and move traktor boot to.
but have decided to wait 18 months or so and just buy a new laptop with one already built in. this laptop is 2 years old now so 18 months would be a good time to look at upgrading.
plus as much as i look at performance upgrading, it's still running a 2ghz single core intel celeron processor and my music is still on a 300Mb/s HDD. So while the boot would be quicker, still wouldn't see any real improvement when loading the tracks.
Would make more sense to use one for music storage, but then there's no system boost, and a decent capacity SSD to cover both would be too much to pay out on this machine.

if your machine is worth spending the money on, then yeah, if not wait a while and buy a new laptop with a built in SSD

    Bingo.

    Brad has nailed it.
Other than faster boot times, unless you copy the tracks in your set to your SSD, you'll get little extra benefit as the tracks will have to come from your music collection which is likely to be on a traditional hard disk, given the capacity required.

However, depending on how you setup your tunes, it could be worth while for some.
