hey mate im pretty much in the same situation you are. im also from aus and was looking at an oxygen 8 or axiom 25....think guy on inthemix was selling a axiom for like 160 not sure if he still is but yeh. anyways a oxygen 8 v2 is like 140$ from storedj new, but if you look around and have some patience you should be able to get a cheap pick up on a oxygen 8.

One thing to be considered with the OXY when deciding between V2 and the 25 (which is really a V3), The V2 uses Enigma for mapping and the 25 has to be programmed on-board (easy to do). But the 25 also adds DirectLink which maps it natively to many popular DAW (and the only keyboard I found that maps into GarageBand) and you get a extra fader!

For mainly DJing, the V2 can be easier to map with Enigma, if Enigma is still supported on your system (try before you buy!). But if it is for production work too, I would go for the 25.

IMO, the axiom is overkill for a 25 key, stick with a simple compact unit.

Agreed. I use a 49SL Mk2 and love it, but it is WAY above the price range of the options in this thread. Worth every penny in my opinion though.

Got an Oxygen 25 recently. The only thing I'm not too pleased with is the trigger action on the keys :
*they don't start sending notes quickly into the press
    *sensitivity is mediocre

    I think
Buy Roland Juno-D + Usb Midi interface
    Is Better than AXIOM 100times

If you need to use Keyboard Interface
You must focus on playing with the key not turn the knob or move fader

And yes .... U need to playing live SoftSynth not the way that Piano/Keyboard player Choose

Very versatile tool though, even more so that it comes with automap
