ugh, vci xfader is skettttch help?

yeah guys. My vci crossfader just stated acting up. As far as I know, there was no spills involved. any tips on fixing it?

I heard cleaning it out with isopropyl alcohol. Mine just started acting up the other day to, so I was going to start looking into it pretty soon as well.

Really it looks like you should pull the fader, but if you don't want to tear into the VCI the day before a festival maybe try blowing some canned air into it and putting some isopropyl alcohol on some type of fine tip applicator. If your not removing the fader I wouldn't plug it in or put power to it for a couple of hours, it really should evaporate within minutes though. If all else fails you could disable the cross fader in the midi settings and just use the up faders.

I wouldn't recommend rubbing alcohol.

That stuff works wonders. If it doesn't fix it, then you probably need to replace the fader.

This is a common problem - basically the PCB has some dirt on it causing the problem. The best way to fix this is to expose the PCB with the contact, use a heavy duty cleaner to remove all the gunk, spray it with a lubricant, and then reapply the lubricants to the rail(s) of the fader.

The reason you expose the PCB is so that you can completely clean it. With the shield on, its difficult to ensure that the cleaner completely removes all the gunk.

However, the Caig DeoxIT spray with the metal shield on might work as well. It is supposed to clean it and lubricate it. Spray it down, put it in the sun for a few minutes to allow the vapors to evaporate. It will take a little longer with the shield on. Then, add a small amount of Caig CaiLube to the rail of the fader as well. Just a couple drops should be sufficient to lubricate it.
