If I am in the middle of a mix, people beter not ask me for a track (then I give them the 'don't you see I'm bussy' look) but when they see I have some time, I don't mind them asking me for a song. If it fits in the mix, I'll play it and else I won't. The only thing I hate, are people with there cellphone coming to your booth and showing the textscreen: "which track is this?", "Can you play something for me? yes = press 1 no =press 2" (seriously I've had this more than once ). But at most of my gigs I wear my tshirt that says : I am a DJ not a jukebox! Most of the time they get the hint

Meh, in my experience people don't read anyways. And in the scene I run in they demand requests be played a lot. And when you don't they throw little temper tantrums. Sometimes it's really funny, sometimes it's not.

More often than not it's... well... not.

It's weird, I don't really mind requests after all isn't a DJ designed to entertain? People are normally entertained by music they want to hear.

There's a difference between being a nice guy and being a meat jukebox. A club DJ's job is to set tone, give a structure to the night. If other people determine what you play, then they're doing your job, and you're supposed to be the one with the expertise.

I do get a lot of what's your name and what's your Myspace type of questions when I'm in the middle of a mix. I solved that one by having some business cards printed.
