Default MBP with Midifighter, VCI 100 and Audio 2

I'm seriously considering a Midifighter at the end of the month as seeing the vids from Ean and the scope with it in general is too much to resist but I need a quick question answered.

I have a non power USB hub and was wondering if it would be ok to use. Now having read through some other threads I have seen that the soundcard will def need a USB port on my Mac to itself. The sticky point is the other one (as obviously my MBP only has two ), would it be ok to use my non powered hub if it had the Midifighter drawing power through it and the VCI 100 if I used an external power to plug in the VCI as I couldn't see in other threads if this would be an issue?

Just trying to avoid buying a powered hub if necessary.

Sorry dude, no way. With all the LEDs turning on and off, you will want to give each the full 500mA available through USB. Even most powered hubs only have a single PS and divide power among the users:eek: You will need a good multi-tt hub, the good news is they are not that expensive, I use the Cables Unlimited 7-port (it was recommended on here in another thread) and picked it up cheap from a computer wholesaler on the interwebz.

Cheers Phil, I feared that would be the case but thought it was wise to check. I will have a look for the one you mentioned and hopefully there will be someone that will ship to the UK, otherwise are there any other good ones that people can recommend through similar experience of similar setup (maybe here in the UK)?

The thread is USB Hub Latency in the FAQ. There are a couple of other hubs in there, try them on UK ebay.

i played out with a MF connected to an unpowered SCS3.m on one port (vci on the other). worked like a charm..
of course a powered hub would have been better, but i had no problems with this..

Fyoog, I've got the same setup and will be testing both a powered and non-powered hub in the future. I would prefer a non-powered hub since less cables would be better for a live setup, but have no issues using a powered one if that's what I have to use.

I have a simple rule (especially for live sits).
