If all you are using are CDJs then you will definitely will need to learn to beat match as there is no sync button on SSL. As for the difference between SL1 and SL3: SL3 sounds better, less cables to plug between your mixer and turntables/CDJs, availability of a 3rd deck. Everything else is the same. I only have the SL1 so I don't have the 3rd deck but I don't need it because I do have access to The Bridge and that's more tracks that I could ever use.

SQ between SL1 & Sl3 on a blaring PA system is pretty negligible imo....

I could do that, i dont actually have cdjs yet, this jump is still a maybe, but how hard can it be matching up fancy coloured waveforms on a laptop screen , jokes aside, do you have to use cdjs/turntables when working with ssl?

I keep on hearing, for a while, that one can beat match by looking at the waveforms and I still don't know how! Then again, I've had my tables since '96 so I learned to mix by listening to the track and to this day is the only way I know how. Except with Ableton that beat matches for you after warping your tracks. Anyways, I read somewhere in this forums that you can edit midi parameters in the serato midi file and assign them to platters on a controller thus getting rid of the vinyl or CD controller requirement. There are instructions on how to do it. If I find it I'll post it. I'm currently at work so can't at this moment.
