If you make sure that your laptop is on a stand and your mixer is in a protector case which height is bigger then a glass you should even be more okay, unless they start throwing it
I've never played in a club, but me and a mate used to do live gigs at small pubs, warehouses and outdoor parties which are rarely prepared for electronic performances, so there is never a "DJ booth" with plexiglass to speak of. We had a couple of nightmare experiences where other performers or staff were to blame, like drunkenly tripping over power cords back-stage, or unplugging audio cables mid-performance while they were packing up, thinking they were their cords. We learned to label EVERYTHING, like all of the cords and duct tape the crap out of them. I also used to borrow a mates CDJs for performing, so I was über careful and used to create a barrier of towels around them on the table on which we had set up. It paid off one night at a pub where a drunken fool spilled his beer on our set-up, most of it got absorbed in the towel with only a light splash on the mixer. Can never be too careful.
When trying to clean one of the faders, how do i go about cleaning it?
Do i swab the whole fader with rubbing alchohol?
Are there specific areas i should look to clean?
Can i soak my vci in rubbing alcohol?(jk)
Can I pour small ammounts of rubbing alchohol in the fader?
ALL I DO IS PARTY HA HA HA
Ive seen Girl Talk use Seran Wrap around his laptops for shows, probably not the prettiest way to go but certainly effective.
Yeah, I wouldn't ever wrap my machine in saran wrap. The static could get bad, and the heat could get terrible.
alcohol will dry the fader out and cause it to not move smoothly. It also may risk creating scratchy noises (or in the case of a midi controller faulty data)
Use caig deoxit fader lube. It comes in spray or a dropper. It comes in two concentrations one for cleaning and one for lubing after cleaning.
This is what is recommended by Allen & Heath for all their products.
You can get it from parts express or order directly from caig
