Thinking of moving stateside....

Here in Ireland at the moment, and it's just not for me!!!
Most if not all of my friends have emigrated at this stage, most of them are in OZ at the moment, but that's just not for me!

Strongly considering a move to the San Fran.
What's everything like over there at the minute, is work easily found? What's the general cost of living like?

Any info much appreciated!

A coworker of mine just moved from San Fran to DC and says that it's cheaper in San Fran... if that helps.

Actually the San Francisco Bay Area has the second highest cost of living in the States, 2nd only to Manhattan. Not sure what type of work you're looking for or have experience with but it's very tech/computer driven here, also Bio-tech is a growing industry. One of the reason's it cost so much here is, well, It's a GREAT place to live. Lots to do, you can get to skiing, surfing, hiking all with a few hours or less. The club scene is fairly decent but I have to say I'm glad that the house & techno scene's have gone "underground" again, as I like a more intimate, less clicky, scene, personally. Do you have friends here? Somebody to stay with while you check it out? I'd highly suggest it. Just my 2 cents

Tulsa, Oklahoma is a cheap place to live! lol, not many clubs here. and the few we have are either gay or "bumping & grindin" types. Nothing wrong with either, but god i need to get out of this town and go where people next to me in their cars hear my radio, recognize and start headbobbin with me to dirty loud, wolfgang gartner or any other EDM! lol

SF is one of the few livable cities in the states. I'm from the Bible Belt but got the fuck out when I graduated university. I've lived in Tokyo ever since other than a 2 year stint in Hawaii which wasn't for me. SF is dope though. There's an offer on the table for me to relocate to the bay area, and I'm seriously on the fence.

Just take a stance on the following before you move:
1: Gay Marriage
2: Decriminalization of Pot
3: If you like Obama or not
4: National Health Care

Everyone has an opinion on the above, and it seems you can't go anywhere w/o hearing everyone elses... one of the main turn offs of living in the states for me.

Just come through Mexico, you can pretty much walk across.
