yes, but none of them can do it right - unless it's a completely pre-programmed "playback" performance.

my rule of thumb: leave the music to the DJ and the visuals to the VJ.

Ean has a cool post about visual controllerism here http://www.djtechtools.com/2010/04/1...controllerism/

Resolume allows for audio and video clips to be triggered simultaneously kind of like you would trigger a clip in ableton. So you can use Resolume for both audio and video. If you want more control over each, you can send your midi clock out of traktor or ableton into resolume which can then sync on this clock. I would recommend having a separate machine to run resolume which you can have a midi controller hooked up to. This is the setup I have been using lately and am going to debut at a party coming up in February.

It's a concept that's really interesting to me as well. I can see how if you were in a competitive market that it could be that "edge" that would get you a gig over someone else. Given that in bigger venues, I believe they should be separate.

It's pretty a pretty interesting concept though. It's one of the little edges that SSL and VDJ have over Traktor at this point. I can imagine with a semi-setup bunch of songs all with unique visuals tied to them, in actual playing it would just add on top. With other lights and such though? Pre-programmed or having a VJ would probably be the best bet unless you enjoy multitasking to the extreme because when you want the fancy light transitions, that's probably when you are going to be changing the music as well.

I use VDJ to great effect for VJing, but I usually have someone else running a light show with me. Music videos load up just like an audio track, and for other songs I can load up custom videos that I've made for each track, or just drop a looping visualization onto the deck with the song.
