I have a DELL Studio laptop with an audio8 and it has DPC latency issues which cause it to crackle/pop.
I think its a common problem across the Studio range and possibly other DELLs allthough im not sure on that.
It can be worked around quite easily but its not something I would want to have to do before a gig so best to avoid.

Yeah...stay away from Dell for DJing digitally.
I know some who swear by their Dell's, but from the majority, I have only heard bad things.

stay away from gateways with AMD processors
Toshiba. Stay away. I had one for a short while, and just after I got everything set up, I realized it would never work as a music/DJ machine. Crackles and pops with the cpu meter barely moving. Passed it on to my girlfriend, and now I recommend Toshiba if you want to play Plants vs. Zombies. lol.
i have had my dell inspiron 1525 for a few years now and its never let me down never had a problem with sounds,i guess its how well you know your hardware/software and what to tweak
I'm fine with tweaking - the last two laptops I've had have been Lenovos and they both needed the battery monitoring turning off to get the dpc latency into the green ... and the minute I'm tending towards lenovo/asus/acer end of things ...
