Default USB 3.0 - Great news for us?

Just checking out some 2.5" External Drives - data transfer rates on USB 3.0 devices are BLAZING fast.

This is great news for those of us that keep our libraries on an external hdd.

Doesn't the particular computer have to support 3.0 to get those speeds?

Just had a little read up, and the general consenus seems to be that to actually see a decent benefit you need to be running SSD and new hardware, so 2.0 for me.

soon enough 3.0 will most likely be the standard and SSD wont cost an arm/leg. but no problems with 2.0 here so cant complain...

For those of us who use Mac's, you can go years without upgrading to a new laptop, and Apple are on the fence with 3.0 apparently.

2.0 will be the standard for a long time if you ask me.

I don't think we need 3.0 for controllers. Audio yes, controllers not sure.
