iTunes, works well with our 3 iPhones and multiple iPods and smart playlists.

    Foobar2000 FTW!

Fully layout-customizable, light weight, supports about everything, enough plugins a man would want (I mainly use Waveform seeker, ReplayGain, Audioscrobbler, HTTP Control for my iPad, Quick Tagger), automated playlists (ie. on Artist/title/etc... or Added last 2 months, etc....) and a lot more I can't think of at this moment. There are even plugins for direct transfer of your music to your iPod or whatever, so for me it's the all-in-one solution.

I used to use Winamp in the past and it worked pretty good, but since I've been using Foobar I don't have to worry about anything, it just does about everything

winamp is used by hermites. basically, ppl that have been cut off from the interwebz for the last ten years

itunes is for those who don't know any better. but i hear the itunes store is the largest on teh world wide internets? IT creates triplicates of all of my songs while keeping them in the most logical folder structure ever envisioned by mankind. doesn't that rock?

errr, seriously: winamp is archaic, itunes is bloatware. we need a bass-tard option in this pole!

If iTunes is creating more than one file and organizing your music for you it's because you've told it to in preferences. However, I do agree with the bloatware statement.

I actually use both and here are my reasons why.

iTunes edits ID3 tags and some of my music is... shared so the checksum needs to stay intact so I can keep sharing it. iTunes also adds files to the library when played which is annoying as I move music all the time and you can't remove missing files in the library in bulk. This means that I normally have 2 copys of my music. One sharing drive and the other my actual organised music. I let iTunes access only this music.

    So Winamp for play back.
    iTunes for organising and podcasts.

It's pretty annoying and a lot of effort.

EDIT: Forgot to say why I use Winamp.
I have a skin called clearONE beta which is a dock bar at the top of my screen. It's always ontop and autohides. Basically like my Windows taskbar. I can't find any other skin or media player which comes close to how nice and simple it is. So I have been using it for the past 6 years.
