    Default Unlimited YoutTube-video-length + DJ mix + gearporn = WIN?

    Since a few days the length of YouTube-videos isn't limited anymore. During the past year or so I noticed that a lot average joes (at least in my area) rather watch a YT-video than go to SC or anywhere else.

    What do you think? Does it make sense to upload whole DJ sets to YT?

    To test it I uploaded my latest mix, added some gear porn in the form of a lame stop-motion-video to make it more interesting:

    has content of "The orchard Music, WMG, ultra records and INgrooves". not available in germany :-(

    with the restrictions youtube is kinda worthless for promoting a mix i guess..

    sweet vid dood. what's the track from about 19.30?

    For your q - I'd probably stick with soundcloud/mixcloud as it's pretty structured for music. but I guess if you're desperate for somewhere to up something yt isn't the worst option

    @weltraumpapst: Yeah I got 6 mails from YT because of the tracks their system detected.
    The workaround with Google Translate doesn't work any more.
    I'm trying to assemble another URL which works in Germany.

    @tekki:
    I didn't want to put the MFC-stamp on everything I do. It's still a community-effort and not my personal baby (although it needs is diapers changed quite a lot).

    @zacl87:
    The track around 19.30 is Khainz - Modul8
    The mix is on SoundCloud as well. Just wanted to try the new freedom and see how people react.

    I guess as long as you have every track listed and available as a link to a store where you got it.. then I think its a great idea.

    As Im seeing alot of people concerned with piracy... Youtube should set up a system where you have to verify your account so all songs you use can be checked to see if its legal or not. And then make it so your credit card is attached or bank account, and let youtube decide through some magic google technology if the songs are legit. And fine you based on illegal songs.

    I think this would be a great way of making new rules for us to follow. Force us to buy every mp3 that we decide to pirate or give away free.
    The quality of youtube is good enough from pc speakers... and nothing is more fun than stripping audio off youtube to play later. I dont care who djs the mix or the songs playing.. but it sure is nice for people to put up their mixes. mabey even do something where if a complete tracklist is linked... people can download your whole mix for 99c and then divide it all up to give back to the artists.. and mabey you get 5 cents per download. so every 20 people who buy it you earn a dollar. If your mix is good... than mabey you can afford becks instead of coors light...

    yes and no

    The hipocracy of people pretending to buy 100% of their music in digital form and then pirate them by uploading it is funny. Having youtube as a place to share things would be abused by this longer format. Ive already found incredible hour long college classes being uploaded which students paid alot of money to ultimately be taught the info. Is the school earning money off of this?

    As much as I love a free internet, I believe the wild west attitude is something which should carefully examined and acted upon. Either play by the rules or get out the game. But the reality is... DJs are doing it for the passion, not the money.. if that was the case I think it would be a big lol on the money earned in relation to the time and money put in.

    But isn't this rather a problem with the (Anglosaxon) education system? At least, I myself strongly believe that education (and access to information) should be free. And looking at the increasing popularity of open access publication in the academic realm, I probably am not the only one thinking that way.
