    Default Korg PadKontrol Native Mode

can anyone shed some light on enabling native midi mode on a korg padkontrol.
All the stuff i've read so far on the net i don't understand and i'm becoming extremely frustrated that korg didn't give this device a simple native midi mode.

Got it sitting here with 19 buttons and one endless rotary that i simply cannot assign midi commands to. Whats the f**king point.

Here's a good description of Native Mode for the PK.

    Enjoy!

From what i understand i need an application (that's not free)
to convert the useless commands into midi data...

    am i right?
I tried a couple of free applications and they either half worked or crashed, seriously why is this so hard to figure out.

Korg should have just made a way to press a certain sequence/combination of buttons to enable it as a generic midi device.

Bento can speak more to this, but I'm pretty sure you can use the free version of Bomes. You can just e-mail them and ask, Florian is really good at getting back to people. You should also be able to set the warez to receive SysEx commands, I think.

Yeah the free version of bomes will be able to convert outgoing midi messages from Traktor into SysEx messages that go out to the Pad Kontrol to turn on lights

But will it convert the SysEx outputs from the korg into midi for traktor?
I'll be hitting you up about this on messenger to brainstorm for a solution bento!

You need to take part of the beta of the latest version of Bomes to have multiple in/out connections. Otherwise just run two coppies of Bomes, one for Traktor -> Pad and another for Pad -> Traktor.

It will be a good learning experience for you if you do get one

There also might be an easier way than this, but id really need to own one to be able to tell for myself.
