Default Turn a pair of Sennheiser HD 555's into HD 595's!

Hope I'm not re-posting, but apparently Sennheiser is using a piece of foam that is blocking up to %50, %50! of the vents causing a restriction in the frequencies responses with the HD 555's.

Congrats you just saved $150, if you bought the 595. . . .

or maybe it cost 100 some odd dollars to remove the foam in the factory.

I pick up the sarcasm, but I don't see how your comment makes any sense.

If the factory puts on the foam, and they shouldn't do so in the 1st place. Its not very cost effective. Why would they pay to take it off? Somewhat confused now

Great find!! I thought first the driver must be different, but the source link has a pic of a replacement driver labeled 555/595 so indeed it is true.

Thanks for the tip! I just did this to my pair, they sound much more "open" now.

No prob, glad it helped out.

I couldn't let this post slide. This really kills any respect I have for Senn. products. The simple fact that a piece of .05 cents foam, is a difference of $150 is borderline criminal.

It's not the gear. It's how you use it.

I love my HD25's but this does concern me. This is like the kind of stuff I expect from MONSTER. I really hope they put out some kind of press release explaining themselves or at the very least apologize for gouging there customers.
