Default What exactly is fader lube?

An idiot friend of mine spilled the tiniest amount of beer in one of the volume faders of my VCI-100, while playing around with it, and now the fader isn't responding normally.

I was thrilled to find DJ Tech Tools' tutorial on how to clean these (http://www.djtechtools.com/2010/08/1...ers-jog-wheel/) using isopropyl alcohol, fader lube and canned air. However, my technical knowledge is not at the level of most enthusiasts in this forum.

So I ask, what kind of lube is 'fader lube' exactly? And what's so special about isopropyl alcohol?

I just need enough details to ensure that I ask for the right things at the hardware store. I wouldn't want to spray the wrong kind of lubricant in there

    Thanks in advance,

CaigLube DeoXit seems to be the most popular.

ISO is good because it dissolves pretty much anything and evaporates quickly.
