    Default High cpu usage... help!!

Hi, just bought myself a Stanton scs3 system running TPro using a numark DJio soundcard.

AMD Turion X2 Processor 4gb Ram windows vista home premium 32bit op system 2.0 ghz.

I'm going into the red quite often-sound glitches, then laptop crashes! I have played with the latency, but no joy, tried different usb ports. I've updated all drivers turned off Norton anti virus and internet.
I have also tried a numark omni control this also does the same high cpu etc.. All hardware is brand new, all software is current. I am not a computer buff and really don't know what to do or where to start. Plus i've got a gig this coming Saturday..24/02/2011 and am getting very worried.

    (RE format the hardrive???)

Please remember i am a beginner, any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks Rastey

There's also game booster to help shut down unnecessary apps running.

I don't think adding any buffer softwares is going to help.

Can you post a screen cap of your tasks manger's process's tab?

[Run your normal setup, get the lag. Right click the taskbar and select task manger, go to the processes tab. Press Alt+Prt to grab a screenshot, paste in MS paint and upload to a image hosting site. Post here.]

Sense your on a tight deadline I'm just going to throw all this out there take of as you will. A Dual core processor at 2 ghz running 4 decks at 60 MS latency shouldn't be running higher than 60%.

A great spyware removal program, its free: http://www.superantispyware.com/

Wouldn't hurt to run CCleaner to get rid of those bad registries and temps files: http://www.piriform.com/

You can also click start>Run. Type in the box msconfig. Go to the start up tab and uncheck any non essentials. (Can also be done within CCleaner.)

Also do you get a blue screen of death at the crash or does it completely shut off? How old is your laptops battery?

I had issues like this before, my fix was to unistall Traktor. Find a completely different install file but the same version as to not screw up my mappings.

I've also had this happen when I had a corrupt usb hub driver in my device manager.

[click start>right click my computer>select device manager. in the new window look lokk any listings with a ! yellow triangle symbol nest to it. Roll back, disable or fix it by installing a new driver.]

Good luck, also 2/24 in USA EST would be yesterday/Thursday? Where do you live that would be a 2 day difference?

Try running Latencymon (http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon). It can help track down where the problems are coming from.
