    Default vci100---> apc40

    hi, iv had a vci100 for a while now and want to move to the apc 40.
    would you agree that it is a better controller?
    also, how usable is it with traktor?
    are there plenty of mappings avaliable?
    thanks

    It's an awesome controller, but mapping it from scratch has some extra headaches. I never owned a VCI so I can't compare but the APC does the job pretty nicely in Traktor.

    Mine is 4 decked but focuses on 2 decks at a time (like the S4). You could remap the C&D functions quite easily.

    It has plenty of room for new stuff too.

    I have a VCI100 and just completed my APC80.

    The difference is that the APC can handle more than the VCI on one page\mode.

    You don;t have to go into different pages to get to layered functions etc.

    Its all there....no soft-takeover etc.

    I love it!

    I enjoyed my transition, but there are some headaches, as mentioned. I messed around mapping my vci before the switch, and had them both at one time for a while. I liked the layout of the vci a bit better, and occasionally I am nostalgic about the jogs, but my workflow is much more seamless now with the APC. I also have an X1 now for effects, so I have transport, loop control, full 4 channel 3 band eq with filters, 8 hotcues per deck, loop routing, and tempo/pitch control all on the APC. It's pretty nice.

    Dunno if it's better than a vci-100 SE with DJTT mapping... the mapping is super amazing and tactile and would have been an epic epic headfuck to program from scratch.

    If the VCI-100 had rotary knobs for the gains it would be perfect for me.

    To me the vci is limited I had one and i hate how u can only control one set of effects at one time, had to always switch modes and 4-deck mixing on it is a pain. the apc already has more knobs and faders to its possible.
