When I DJ house parties the crowd is more looking for music to chill to, so mixing long mixes of songs is mostly what I do there, but when I DJ dances at my school, everyone wants the best parts of top40s songs played, so normally verse-chorus-verse and mix out in the next section whether it be a breakdown or chorus. It's really important to also know the songs you spin back and forth. If you know that the bridge of this one song is a real downer, know to either wait it out and mix out at the next chorus or resolution. If a song has a very long outro, maybe play the whole song and mix out after the end of the last normal chorus. I guess I'm saying to read the crowd as best as you can and know your music as best as you can. As long as you do that, you should see success.
