    What is Double Dropping?

(info copied and pasted from another site)
There's a massive phenomenon in D&B circles called the double drop. Basically a double drop is when you've got your two cuts lined up so well that both of them drop at exactly the same time. Essentially it means loads of impact, and I mean loads.

When it's done properly you've got two basslines and melodies rolling at exactly the same time. You're effectively creating another track altogether, or a remix of two cracking tunes. In fact sometimes it can make a track that doesn't sound too good on its own sound amazing!

    Playlist:

    'Shockout' - Danny Byrd
'Bite the Bullet' - Roni Size

I have to admit tho, I'm not using Traktor and the vestax to its full potential.

I'm still running version Traktor 3.4 with only 2 decks and no version 1.3 firmware update I gotta get my ass up to speed just to keep up with you guys!

Watching/Listening to this now @ work. I've been playing a lot with double drops recently as well.

In fact my sets are largely based around double drops, or at the very least dropping new kicks/samples at the drop. Ableton is pretty sweet for that.

I've been mixing a lot of oldschool jungle with neurofunk, and fuck does it stomp. The best think about is (especially if you use a bit of sidechain compression) is that as jungle is usually huge sine sub-basslines and neurofunk is usually big kicks & far more mid-range bass they dont actually mess with each other too much.

Dropping neurofunk kicks over old jungle also is nice n a bit simpler. Makes it feel more updated but with that minimal jungle flavorrrrrrrrrrrrr that I love.

Bentos' ableton smart mixer is absolutly bad-ass for double drops!

Avoids all the muddyness without losing the impact.

Kinda makes it almost too easy
