Default Studio monitors Or pa speakers/monitors

Hi everyone I'm looking for a little help I have just got a 400 square ft room which I want to use as a studio I use turntables pc samplers fx and synths and most of the music I make is in the digital domain there is also going to be a band that uses the studio for rehersal and eventually to record.for my personal setup I feel a set of good studio monitors would be ideal but im thinking would like a set of mackie hr 824 s be enough to fill the room or would I be looking for more of a pa type of powered speakers.eventually I would have both but to start with I can only afford one or the other The band are going to di there bass and guitar into the desk and are going to use the speakers If anyone can help or give me the benefit of their experience it would be greatly appreciated cheers

i'd probably opt for the PA if the guitar/bass are plugging straight in and using your speakers to output the sound.

I've used the 15" Harbingers... not that expensive and get pretty powerful.
