I went to Tokyo a couple of years ago and did all the normal touristy things (go to the top of the Tokyo Tower, go to the Meiji Jingu, walk across the massive pelican crossing in Shibuya, go to a maid cafe, etc...) but it was timed just around Hanami. It definitely gives the place a different aesthetic and feel when bathed in cherry blossom. Anyway (relevant) dodgy old holiday photos ahoy

@ b3nz0n8: Just keep that Storm Troopers thread updated. It is what gives me energy to continue most days.

@ Tom2501: Hanami is one of those special times. It's hard to explain to someone that's not experienced it. I stumbled into a grocery store to buy more beer... with a beer in hand, and could barely walk. Of course, nobody gave me a second thought as it was very standard behavior for the area at this time! I was in Yoyogi park (drunk as a mofo) and it's nothing short of inspiring to see several thousand people (not exaggerating) gathering to drink beer and simply have a good time!

These were taken this morning at around 11AM. It was a beautiful day, but still somewhat overcast. So, some are filtered. But, still a good representation of my neighborhood, which is a stone's throw away from Yooygi Park. I went back when the parties started (got a couple of pics on my iPhone) at about 16:00. I'm WAY too hammered now to deal w/ those, which is a good thing. Must sleep. High res available on request.
