    Default best companion midi controller

im looking for a controller, midi keyboard, etc to compliment my setup.
    (i have the S4)

i was thinking of an oxygen 8, but i would also like to see perhaps more controls, ie faders, knobs, buttons (not piano-keyboard)

but on the other hand, it would like it to have a piano keyboard, say, 25 keys, to use the same controller as a production tool too

im faced with a decision i dont know enough about....
    what do YOU guys think?

If you aren't constrained by price, the M-Audio Axiom 25 is a good call. So is the Akai MPK25. If it is, the MPKMini seems good enough. Novation also has the Nocturn 25. All of these are very nice controllers with completely MIDI Mappable features, but the Nocturn 25 has the least mappability being that you need to avoid using the Novation Mapping Software unless you plan on DJing with Ableton. I have an M-Audio Axiom Pro 49 and love it, I've only taken it to one gig, so I can't speak on it's live abilities fully, but as a production tool it's amazing. The only plus that one of these controllers has over the others is the MPK25's 12 pads instead of 8, but that adds bulk, which can change around how you have to carry your gear around. If you're looking for pure portability, the MPKMini is the best, but if you want the most features the MPK25 is the best. I'd say that the M-Audio Axiom 25 is the best mixture between the two.

    Hey Yep!
As you work with S4 and Axiom 49, do you have any idea if exists a mapping for axiom 25 to use it in S4 software?

    I would appreciate your help
Ive looking anywhere but i can't find anything!

I did have a mapping that used the drum pads to control cues and a few of the keys for effects, but when I imported my Midi Fighter mapping it wiped it all clean. I saw a mapping on here a while ago that did something similar. Maybe search for M-Audio Axiom and see what comes up. Sorry I couldn't be of more use.

    EDIT: http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/sho...=M-Audio+Axiom

    That's a mapping

Amazon.com: Akai Pro MPK mini: Musical Instruments

Just picked one of these up about a week ago it rocks, TONS of options and the knobs, pads and keys allow for just about any kind of midi mapping you can think up, the only gripe I have is the knobs are a lil too small/just don't feel quite right, but i ordered some new ones off allelectronics.com, they should be here tomorrow
