And you think the laws of physics differ depending on the purpose of the structure?

Somebody had already invented dubstep in 1940? That's some serious wobble there!

lol I remember watching that video in physics class, imagine how the engineer felt when he realised he hadn't taken WIND into account.

Yes, everything has a resonant frequency, and if for example there were a small but sustained earthquake vibrating at exactly that frequency (unlikely, I'll admit), the building would sway with greater and greater amplitude until it eventually collapsed. Just like that bridge.

It's the same as when you're on a swing, and you put a little push in every time and you go higher and higher, but if you were to push much faster but not at the same rate as the swing, it wouldn't help.

Do any of you actually practice/mix in quiet places such as your house/apartment late at night as others are sleeping? I'm curious if anyone has issues with limited time to play out loud in their own spaces. I know that trying to mix on a lower volume doesn't allow for great transitions as you can't hear certain sounds.
as pointed out by a couple of others - get a decent set of headphones mate... its your best option.

sennheiser hd25's or aiaiai tma-1's would be the perfect choice (the tma-1's are slightly more pronounced in bass)

you can go as loud as you want then, and it wont annoy anyone.
