I couldn't tell the difference with those clips to be honest.

I'd rather have people noticing the difference and keeping audio standards high.

Most people can't hear the difference because they don't know what to look for.

Ok, few questions about this test.

    • What format are those clips? Have they been recompressed several times?
    • How are these being streamed? Does that have any effect on the audio quality? I can't see any way to download it.

It doesn't seem like a great test.

dont have a clue as I just stubbled across it... clicked the correct answer then seen many people got it wrong... theres a wav and mp3 test which most failed too but I found it fairly simple as i clicked to open in new links and came up .wav and .mp3 in the window

I did some blind listening tests years ago. The audience were mostly competitive dancers (people who listen to a LOT of music), the venue & system had been in place for years (familiar to everyone involved), and the music were "familiar favorites" of the audience (songs they had heard before, and probably owned).

    I used several formats:
    1) Original CD
    2) mp3 @ 320
    3) mp3 @ 128

The mp3's had been burned onto an audio CD. All the songs were played on the same equipment, etc, ad nasium.

The challenge was to correctly identify the source of 5 songs. The answers were WORSE than straight guessing should have produced!

After a couple times, I added a "I can't tell" option and told them to only answer one of the other options if there were CERTAIN they could tell a difference. Removing the "cant' tell" responses, the answers were almost exactly what would have been produced by guessing!

Meh, some already not really awesome quality 70s tune is not really useful for that test. I mean I have lots of my old 60s rock songs encoded in 196kBit/s, cause you won't even hear a difference due to the record being "crap"-quality already when it came out. My EDM collection is proper 320 tho, as you clearly hear the difference there..
