In the tradition of keeping up with consecutive quality releases
through 2011, Air Snare Records presents to you a spanking new
explosive EP from Germany this month. Meller (Marco Scherer and DJ
Mel) do not follow conventions of electronic dance music by fusing
hard rocking tribal trance with a bold progressive sound. This brash &
rude mixture (without any puristic boundaries or frontiers) makes the
Meller sound stand out easily from the lot.

Not For Hippies EP contains three tracks with modern post-trance
ideologies that would easily find its way into any progressive/techno
DJ's crate. The first track, 'Lemon Goa', is full of swirling synths &
tough beats that would set your dancing pants on fire. Next,
'Uppercut', is a trippy peak time banger with a yummy percussive
drop midway that would make the crowds erupt into a certain
spontaneous music behavior (doing just what the voice in the track
says). And finally, 'Poke', is a bouncy bongo-tronic workout
guaranteed to get any crowd jacking, indoors & outdoors.

Do you feel that modern electronic music is more and more stucked in genres?

Screw them...or leave them for marketing...we did too...hence we announce a new record label Qualiass Records from Slovenia, which, while not being driven by money making or pussy-hunting, aims to showcase fresh sounds and music from the always ambiguous region between the Balkans and West Europe. Basically, it is a “f**k the genres” as opposed to “feelings oriented” relationship which drives the labels release schedule, following the multidimensional cultural perspective of artistic production between electronic and organic music.

QR001: Qualiass – Anger Me Sweet EP

Influenced by a decade of musical production opus from the central artistic figure Qualiass, formerly known as Qualia, Qualia Six, Qualia6 and Qualias Dead, the label’s debut release Anger Me Sweet EP features 3 original tracks (plus a bonus track for the wicked), which cleverly combine rock-sounding guitars with a more club oriented electro-tingled beats and bass.

While the journey from disco punk to country electro could describe the opening track Electronic Cowgirl, Qualiass took a bit more clubbing approach with the second track Anger Me Sweet, transforming electro stomping drive into a dubstep wobbling end. The EP ends with an evolving track between broken and straight beat called Play With Me, which layers grungy guitars over mind boggling beats and lush melodics.

All in all, the label’s debut EP showcases the richness in sound and variety in arrangement progression, which will be followed by a string of remixes from London based Kid Suda and Slovenian producers Yanoosh and Adriacid.

Meaning wise, the EP represents the thin line between digital and real, love and pain, sweet and sour, simultaneously inspiring each other in a confused world of “too much of everything” and then again “lack of something”.
