    Default Ubisoft Rocksmith

huh.. never thought i'd say it, but sounds like they've actually came up with a rhythm videogame that isn't tragically lame.

Rocksmith, which will be available in October, attaches any real guitar to an Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or computer and tries to teach complete novices how to actually play in clever game-like fashion. The game turns a console or PC into a guitar amplifier and effects studio - where distortion or wa-wa and the like can be set using a controller - all in one.

Cross calls Rocksmith a “first-person Guitar Hero,” since the guitar’s strings are displayed horizontally across the screen. Similar to Guitar Hero, players must hit notes as they float down the screen. The difference is that they’re hitting real notes on real guitar frets. The first-person-view makes it sort of like playing a shooter game like Call of Duty.

Rocksmith, which will come with 50 rock and alternative songs - with more to come as downloads - adjusts the difficulty as it goes. If the player is hitting notes perfectly without missing, the game throws more at them. Eventually, with enough practice and repetition, the player will fully and properly learn the songs.

Cross and his team were complete guitar rookies when they started developing the game five years ago. “You really can learn how to play guitar with this,” he said.

interesting concept, as a guitarist! but they really should make one for bass before one for guitar, because the world needs more bassists!

the very concept is awesome. if it's as good as it sounds it could be a game changer. (no pun intended)

perhaps the very first educational game that doesn't feel like sugar-coated schoolwork.

    imagine that!
