laptop audio interface -> PA (no mixer)
Greetings everybody. I'm wondering about the best way to get sound directly from my audio interface to a PA. I plan on doing mobile gigs with my own PA, and I mix internally, so no mixer. Currently my audio interface is an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile, which has served me well so far but does not have balanced outputs.
Should I:
- Keep using the M-Audio box, and get a DI box to convert it's signal to balanced. I'm pretty sure this would work but I don't know much about which DI boxes are "good."
- Get a small mixer anyway, but the band/studio kind, not the DJ kind. A friend who I will be sometimes collaborating with has a Peavey PV8, which should solve my balanced output problem.
- Get a new audio interface. So far I've come across the following which appear to do what I want:
Echo Audiofire 2
Presonus Firebox
NI Audio Kontrol 1
Focusrite Saffire 6 USB
Thoughts, suggestions, advice?
