Default Please Help!!! Laptop to Active Speakers

Before everyone tells me to use the search button, I have used and came up with this thread http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16620, but I'm still a bit confused.

Basically I'm looking to get a pair of Peavey Pr12 speakers. Unfortunately I don't know what I will need to hook my Audio 2 DJ to both speakers.

I'm under the impression that I will need a DI box, something like http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/DI20.aspx, but I'm still a little confused as to how that will help me so that I can use one out of the Audio 2 for cuing and the other for speakers.

I get that you connect one output of the Audio 2 to the input of the DI box but I don't get how you connect the output of the DI box to both speakers.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to speakers so any guidance would be much appreciated.

You need to have something that runs left output and right output..

Most people buy a mixer as then you can run the audio 2 dj as deck A and Deck B instead of master and monitor.

If you really mean the PR12s, those are passive speakers so you'd need an amplifier between the sound card and the speakers. If you're talking about the PR12Ds (the active, built in amplifier version), then yes you need a DI box.

What is does is to convert unbalanced signals into balanced, you can read more about that here: http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/07...tal+DJ+Tips%29

You'd need a stereo splitter cable to create 2 mono TS outputs, then plug those into the inputs on the DI and a pair of XLR cables between the DI and the speakers.

Thank you for the link. I think I understand how to hook everything up now provided I get some cables. I must mean the powered speakers as they have a power plug and everything.

I actually have the Peavey Pr12p

    http://www.planetdj.com/i--PR12P

It says that there is balanced inputs, does that mean i still need a DI box? I've been talking to a friend and he has been recommending I just directly connect from my Audio 2 to speakers via splitter. In this case I should go from 1/4 to two trs (I think that's what they are called) or two XLR?

The Audio 2 doesn't have balanced outs so if you want the chain to be balanced you'll need the DI box. It will work without it and will probably sound fine, but you could (probably will) get interference without it. The Audio 2 comes with a 1/4 to RCA splitter cable.

Okay I guess I will need a DI box then. Just to make sure I understand everything, I want a box like http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CleanBoxPro/
in which I plug in the RCA from my audio 2 and then I just go from xlr to xlr on each speaker from the outputs of the DI?

Good choice. It might work without a DI but you're likely to have problems with noise.
