Damn it, now I've got it into my head that I can fuse really slow disco with funk basslines and 200bpm neurofunk to create something new and probably unlistenable. Gonna go home and slice up some breakbeats!

Well, I didn't understand half of the posts in this thread... But I know the OP personally (as in IRL), and I feel like I should say that he isn't this... ranty... usually.

Its like driving really fast down a road, everything just next to you will be racing by quicker than you can register it, but towards the horizon and above your head clouds and the distand background would just jog along in a slow tempo.

This is EXACTLY how I've been describing d&b for years. Like being on a train. The countryside will be sliding serenely past (the bassline, pads) but if you look down at the tracks they will be skittling along (the breaks). Nice to know there are kindred spirits out there!
