    Default HELP! 80's night

I'm going to be a DJ for this 80's night thingy....

The thing is, I dont have much 80's in my collection.
Can you guys give me a list of tracks that can help me keep the dance floor moving?

    Thanks!

THIS song is incredibly popular from the 80's

no but seriously just play any classic tunes. I doubt the majority of people will care if they're actually from the 80's or not.

well it's from 1988 so you could totally play this at your gig and be totally justified

Erm, why did you agree to play a night for a style of music you know nothing about?

I wouldn't presume to take a gig that asked me to play Dubstep, or Prog House, or Electro, or DnB - I'd give it to someone who knew what they were doing

    Not hating, just saying ...

There's loads of 80s compilations about. You can probably get away with very early 90s stuff such as shoegaze too.

Shit...my first steady gig was a Wednesday night 'Latin' night at a white trash bar when Ricky Martin first became hugely popular in the U.S.

I was nowhere near an expert on Latin music. I actually bought like 15-20 compilations from CDNow.com (anybody remember that site?!) and winged it for about 4 months.

Sometimes you just take what you can get when you're starting out. There's not such thing as bad experience when you're trying to get experience, right?

In my experience, yes there is such a thing as a bad experience. IMO though everybody needs to experience those bad experiences to get the experience they need.
