    Default Help to plug 2 monitors + 1 subwoofer, XLR or 1/4 Jacks ?? ?

    Hello everybody recently i bough o 2 Reference Monitors nEar 06 ESI amplifieds http://www.esi-audio.com/products/near05experience/

    And

    1 Subwoofer Monitor http://www.ikey-audio.com/m-10sv2

    I will plug this 2.1 system in my mac (NOT mixer and external souncard), the subwoofer dont have XLR output, only XLR input, so is impossible send the sound from the subwoofer to the monitors through XLR cable, i will have to use the 1/4 Output Jacks to send the sound to TSR input monitors.

    My Doubt is: makes big diferences on the sound's quality use XLR instead 1/4 Jacks to send the sound from Subwoofers to the monitors ? for now i will only use this to listen music, but i will buy my new dj equipament, i will buy the Novation Twitch and djing with this monitors and sub pluged this way, only with 1/4 Jacks, not with XLR, the sound's quality will be good ? or is much better with XLR ?? i dont understand very well this technical stuffs, i hope some guys can clarify this for me, thanks alot !!!

    No difference in sound - XLR/TRS are both balanced. Only 'advantage' of XLR is the added security of the fastening mechanism.

    As long as the 1/4" is TRS (two lines on the plug) you'll be fine.

    thank you, but, what is the third point on the XLR ? i saw this cable have 3 little holes and 3 conectors, so 2 are because is balanced.. and the third ?

    1 = ground (cable shield)
    2 = positive (hot)
    3 = return/negative (cold)

    well so XLR Only 'advantage' is the added security of the fastening mechanism right ? quality sound is the same with TSR because both are balanced cables right ?

    Im no expert but they should be the same.. 3 wires connected to 3 wires...

    BUT every guitarcenter employee I've talked to seem to think TRS will end up with a hotter signal..
    I've never looked into it.. And i don't see how it's possible..

    Either way.. I use XLR where I can
