Underground? Not really the thing in vegas, on or off strip. And restrictive door policies are de rigueur at the big clubs on the strip. Grab a copy of City Life when you get to town, it will tell you what's happening that week (kind of like a Time Out or whatever) because once in a while you get lucky at some of the local clubs. You can find the club listings here
http://www.lasvegascitylife.com/calendar/nightclubs/ but of course it's not up to date so potentially useless; you can find the paper version at grocery stores and the like off the strip but rarely on the strip anywhere. But look through what's there online and you'll get a feel for what clubs have interesting stuff happening; though beware of labels. "House" means pop electro and top forty. "Funk" means top forty hip hop. "Dance" means top forty. "Trance" means Tall Paul Oakenmau5 von Sashweed is spinning. Don't get me wrong, there are some fun DJs there (check out Soxxi), but there's an overwhelming pressure to stick to hits people know at most places. I've heard good stuff at Aruba, Vanguard, and Beauty Bar.
I recommend downtown Vegas for off-the-strip fun. The casinos and drinks are much cheaper, and they have the old-vegas feel which I think is cooler (though often cheesier) than the strip. And if you walk around just past the casinos, there's a couple cool new loungy places, a video game bar called Console or something of that sort that has good DJs spinning hip hop and mashups if you're into that sort of thing, a cool coffee shop/record store called the Beat, and a piano bar called don't tell mama with bartenders who sing for tips (and a couple of them are astoundingly good - but again, they sing hits).
If you've never been to Vegas before, be prepared to be overwhelmed and overstimulated (and possibly appalled), particularly if you're staying on the strip. If you can stay downtown it's a LOT cheaper, though it shows. (Four Queens and Gold Spike are fine hotels though be sure to be firm about requesting a no smoking room or your room will stink of cigarettes). But if you're on your honeymoon the extra bucks for a nice suite on the strip are probably worth it. Are you renting a car? If you're going on and off the strip you will want one. If you're just staying on the strip (or on Fremont St downtown) you won't really need it, cabs short distances are easier to deal with. But it will get costly if you're going back and forth so plan ahead. The other benefit of having a car is you can get away to some of the gorgeous natural beauty in Vegas - Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston - or just go to see the Hoover Dam, which is also kind of cool. And other off-strip things you might want to check out are the Erotic Heritage Museum and the Atomic Testing Museum (well, the latter only if you're a nerd like me). You can also shoot fully automatic machine guns at a gun range on Tropicana, and there's a pinball museum with machines from the 1950s and 1960s that you can play.
Honestly, Vegas is the last place I would consider going for a honeymoon, but that's probably because I live near it and have been there dozens of times. But if you want a really over the top experience, it can't be beat. But either way it's not the best place to go in search of underground dance music.
