some great advice there, id say hold out, dont rush into it, get (beg/steal/borrow) what your heart desires and you'll be a happy man, dont buy gear on a whim, you'll only 95% of the time regret it.
S2 sounds like it could be thing for you

Vci100se, Midifighter, Audio 2, Laptop with ideally 2GB+ and you have the ultimate in begginners setup. After all, even if you do decide to Upgrade to a bigger, much more daunting controller like the S$ then half of the stuff can just be brought through to compliment the new gear.
I bought the SE from DJTT just over a year ago now and haven't looked back to this day.
Just my take on the matter, feel free to ask any questions

+1, looking back I wish I had started with this setup as there is so much support(help) and fun to be had
It's not the gear. It's how you use it.

If you don't practice you don't want it.

Stop worrying about supplementary controllers like the X1 or the midi fighter for starters! Just get an S2/VCI/twitch/whatever to start with and then later on get one if you feel you need it.

I think the labels on the controls are different too? I'm not entirely sure.

if your willing to get a vci 100 then your better off getting the twitch like i did. I was just like you. didn't have a clue in the world what to get. Thats when i found the twitch. It's cheap ($500), has 8 pads per channel, fader fx, built in soundcard, and it's easily portable. since you already have traktor pro 2 you can easily map it to traktor pro. Pretty soon the twitch's slicer will also be mapped to traktor to so you can use that too! if not your can always use serato itch 2.0 which comes free with it so then you would have two softwares to choose from
    | 13" Macbook Pro | Novation Twitch | Kontrol X1 | Bose QuietComfort 15 Headphones | Traktor Pro 2 | Serato Itch |
