[SETUP] Thoughts.

Hey there,

Recently i've got my first gig and i've got more coming up as i've been asked to be resident by a friend, which means i'll have atleast a few gigs a year.

Even thought I am focussing on producing, I do want to take these gigs serious. I've been DJing digital (First controller, now borrowing a xone 92 and got an X1) but it just doesn't really give me the "DJ" feeling , so i'm looking at a DVS setup on a budget for now, so I can learn to DJ "manually" and still play my gigs properly. I also think there's just something about having Vinyl's and playing Vinyl that really attracts me, although I still like digital and its comfort, hence the reason i'm thinking of going DVS.

Now i was thinking about the following setup, to be the most affordable for me within a small timespan (Gigs are starting around December);

- 2x Technics 1200: About 600 Euro's
- MBP 13" (Already got)
- Kontrol X1 (Already got)
- Xone 22: About 200 Euro's
- Soundcard... Got an Audio 2 atm... Whats the minimum i'd need? Audio 4/6? Whats the downside of having an audio 6 vs an audio 8, what would i need the extra channels for?
- TSP2 + Vinyls (Already got, bought from friend)

Looking at about 1000 euro's?

Thoughts?

And another question; why do i see so many DVS setups with 4 channel mixers? You only need 2?

Those 2 extra channels are usually for sample decks or something else that you can digitally control. Or for having two channels in case of back 2 back kinda action.

If you're looking for a better bang for the buck on your turntables, try looking for super oem turntables, a lot cheaper and definitely not worse. And if you're going 2 decks all the way, a second hand Audio 4 is also an option.

I'm definitely going for technics because they seem to become even more expensive ( in the NL atleast), so if i'd like to resell them i'll get my money back. Next to that they're the standard here so when playing out i know what i'm playing with.

Im not planning to do some b2b work @ home, just playing my 2 decks. Thats the way I like to play my music, 2 deck, minimal effects, nice and clean... so an Audio 4 would do? Thats cool.

I'm from the Netherlands, so yeah, I understand. Still, I got my TT's for 150 euro's together, so I'm pretty sure I can't make any loss on it for sure

The Xone is an excellent mixer, but I'm pretty sure 150 euro's should be enough on marktplaats.

Yeah, the TT's were an amazing prize, definetly worth the trip all the way to Kerkrade for.
